What Is Pschology Essay Example
What Is Pschology? Essay Nature is described as innate behavior that we are born with, it involves involuntary responses , such as, jumping when startled, this is a bodyââ¬â¢s reaction to help protect us from harm. These are behaviors that cannot be changed. Nurture is learned behaviors, we learn these through life experiences from our environment. Learned behaviors can be changed. Sometimes it is hard to say whether a behavior is innate or learned, such as, thumb sucking, which seems to be innate but may in fact be learned behavior. I feel that behavior is a result of both nature, behaviors we are born with, and nurture, learned behavior. I strongly believe nurture, opportunity and environment, account for way more influence on our life than nature does. I feel that nature is only ââ¬Å"beginning behaviorâ⬠inborn for survival purposes. Let us look at the different environments people grow up in. It is my strong opinion that family values and resourses are a major influence on peoples behavior. Take for example, a familys income, if a person grows up in poverty, no matter what the familys values or lifestyle, that person has less opportunity to explore his surroundings or be involved in extra curricular activities as a child. That person may grow up with poor self esteem, making them less likely to explore their options as adults. If a child grows up in an environment where getting a good education is a high family value that child is more likely to pursue higher education than the child that grows up in a family that doesnââ¬â¢t believe that higher education is a necessity for success. If a child grows up in an environment where the adults are cigarette smokers and donââ¬â¢t put a high value on their health, that child is more likely to copy these behaviors as adults. If a child grows within a family that puts a high priority on their spiritual well being, that child is more likely to pursue spiritual growth in adulthood. People that grow up in different countries adapt to that countries culture. People that grow up in a mountainess terrain have different behaviors than those that grow up on the beach. There is a difference in being a country person and being a city person. A person born in a third world country has different behaviors than someone born in a developed country. It is my opinion that although nature supplies us with the same innate behaviors, our personalities and behaviors develop mainly because of our environment and opportunities available to us. How and where we are raises plays a big role in what we become as adults, although I believe that our behaviors are mainly formed while we are still children, I donââ¬â¢t think that our learning ever stops. We learn and grow, again from our environment outside the family home. We learn at work, we learn to develop behaviors that pleases our boss, such as, efficiency, promptness, and willingness to excel in our field. At school we learn good study habits among other life skills. At play we may learn a whole new sport which is in itself a behavior. In relationships we learn new behaviors that enable us to be compatable with others. We never stop learning through our environment.

New Horizons in the Outer Solar System
New Horizons in the Outer Solar System The outer solar systemà isà the region of spaceà beyond the planet Neptune,à and the last frontier. The Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft have passed beyond the orbit of Neptune, but have not encountered any more worlds. That all changed with theà New Horizons mission.à The spacecraft spent 10 years flying out to Pluto, and then swept past the ââ¬â¹dwarf planetà on July 14, 2015. It not only looked at Pluto and its fiveà known moons, but the spacecrafts cameras mapped part of the surface. Other instruments concentrated on finding out more about the atmosphere. New Horizons magesà show that Pluto has a complex surfaceà with icy plains made of nitrogen ice, surrounded by jagged mountains consisting mostly of water ice. It turns out that Pluto was far more fascinating than anyone expected!à Now that it has passed Pluto, New Horizonsà will explore the Kuiper Belt - a region of the solar system that stretches out beyond the planet Neptune andà populated with so-calledà Kuiper Belt Objectsà (KBOs). The best-known KBOs areà dwarf planetsà Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, Eris, and Haumea.à The mission has been approved to visit another dwarf planet called 2014 MU69, and will sweep past it on January 1, 2018. Luckily, this little world lies right along the missions flight path.à In the far distant future,à New Horizonsà will enter the fringes of the Oort Cloud (the shell of icy particles that surrounds the solar system, named forà astronomer Jan Oort). à After that, it will traverse space forever.à New Horizons:ItsEyes and Ears New Horizonsà science instruments were designed to answer questions about Pluto, such as: what does its surface look like? What surface features does it have, such as impact craters or canyons, or mountains?à Whats in its atmosphere? Lets take a look at the spacecraft and its specialized eyes and ears that have shown us so much about Pluto.à Ralph:à a high-resolution mapper with visible and infrared cameras to gather data that will help create very good maps of Pluto and Charon. Alice:à an imaging spectrometer sensitive to ultraviolet light, and built to probe Plutoââ¬â¢s atmosphere. A spectrometer separates light into its wavelengths, like a prism does. Aliceà works to produce an image of the target at each wavelength, and will be able to study the ââ¬Å"airglowâ⬠at Pluto. Airglow happens when gases in the atmosphere are excited (heated). Alice will track light from a distant star or the Sun through Plutoââ¬â¢s atmosphere to pick out wavelengths of light absorbed by Plutos air, which tells us what the atmosphere contains. REX:à short for radio experiment. It contains sophisticated electronics and is part of the radio telecommunications system. It can measure the weak radio emission from Pluto, and take the temperature of its night side.à LORRI:à the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager,a telescope with a 8.2-inch (20.8-centimeter) aperture that focuses visible light onto a charge coupled device (CCD). Near the time of closest approach, LORRI was built to look at Plutos surface at football-field size resolution. You can see some early images from LORRI here. Pluto travels through the solar wind, a stream of charged particles sweeping out from the Sun. So, New Horizons has the Solar Wind Around Pluto (SWAP) detector to measure charged particles from the solar wind to determine whether Pluto has a magnetosphere (a zone of protection created by its magnetic field) and how fast the Plutonian atmosphere is escaping. New Horizons has another plasma-sensing instrument called the Pluto Energetic Particle Spectrometer Science Investigation (PEPSSI). It will search for neutral atoms that escape Plutos atmosphere and subsequently become charged by their interaction with the solar wind. New Horizons involved college students from the University of Colorado as builders of the Venetia Burney Student Dust Counter, which counts and measures the sizes of dust particles in interplanetary space.

Reason for Facebooks Age Limit
Reason for Facebook's Age Limit Have you ever tried to create a Facebook account and gotten this error message: You are ineligible to sign up for Facebook? If so, its very likely you dont meet Facebooks age limit. Facebook and other online social media sites and email services are prohibited by federal law from allowing children under 13 create accounts without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. If you were baffled after being turned away by Facebooks age limit, theres a clause right there in the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities you accept when you create a Facebook account: You will not use Facebook if you are under 13. Age Limit for Gmail and Yahoo! The same goes for web-based email services including Googles Gmail and Yahoo! Mail.ââ¬â¹ If youre not 13 years old, youll get this message when trying to sign up for a Gmail account: Google could not create your account. In order to have a Google Account, you must meet certain age requirements. If youre under the age of 13 and try to sign up for a Yahoo! Mail account, youll also be turned away with this message: Yahoo! is concerned about the safety and privacy of all its users, particularly children. For this reason, parents of children under the age of 13 who wish to allow their children access to the Yahoo! Services must create a Yahoo! Family Account. Federal Law Sets Age Limit So why do Facebook, Gmail, and Yahoo! ban users under 13 without parental consent? Theyre required to under the Childrenââ¬â¢s Online Privacy Protection Act, a federal law passed in 1998. The Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act has been updated since it was signed into law, including revisions that attempt to address the increased use of mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads and social networking services including Facebook and Google. Among the updates was a requirement that website and social media services cannot collect geolocation information, photographs or videos from users under the age of 13 without notifying and receiving consent from parents or guardians. How Some Youths Get Around the Age Limit Despite Facebooks age requirement and federal law, millions of underage users are known to have created accounts and maintain Facebook profiles. They do so by lying about their age, often times with full knowledge of their parents. In 2012, published reports estimated some 7.5 million children had Facebook accounts of the 900 million people who were using the social network at the time. Facebook said the number of underage users highlighted just how difficult it is to enforce age restrictions on the Internet, especially when parents want their children to access online content and services. Facebook allows users to report children under the age of 13. Note that well promptly delete the account of any child under the age of 13 thats reported to us through this form, the company states. Facebook is also working on a system that would allow children under 13 to create an account that would be linked to those held by their parents. Is the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Effective? Congress intended the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act to protect youths from predatory marketing as well as stalking and kidnapping, both of which became more prevalent as access to the Internet and personal computers grew, according to the Federal Trade Commission, which is responsible for enforcing the law. But many companies have merely limited their marketing efforts toward users age 13 and older, meaning that children who lie about their age are very to be subjected to such campaigns and the use of their personal information. In 2010, a Pew Internet survey found that: Teens continue to be avid users of social networking websites ââ¬â as of September 2009, 73% of online American teens ages 12 to 17 used an online social network website, a statistic that has continued to climb upwards from 55% in November 2006 and 65% in February 2008.

RESEARCHING CRIME Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
RESEARCHING CRIME - Essay Example ific, the proposed dissertation will discuss different aspects of youth incarceration, especially in the context of Youth Justice System of the United Kingdom, and will endeavor to analyze available options of tackling youth offenders. It is a fact that every government has been giving noteworthy importance to youth crime, in order to get rid of anti-social agents from the society from its roots; however, none has been able to achieve such objective due to a number of factors, such as unemployment, poverty, etc. (Delanty & Strydom, 2003, pp. 39-42). On contrary, youth prison population has increased noticeably that has resulted in extreme criticism, as effects of youth imprisonment do not affect young offenders only, but families and communities as well. (Omaji, 2003, pp. 40-41) In this regard, it has now become very significant and important to carry out comprehensive research, in order to acquire factual realities that will help the system in dealing with these young lawbreakers effectively. According to the UK government, (Home Office, 2008) hard-hitting penalties for young offenders cannot be avoided, as it is essential for a safe and healthy society; however, studies have observed that these tough and punitive penalties and custodies have resulted in opposing results, rather than allowing offenders to recuperate and break their offending cycle. Although steps are being taken to prevent young individuals from falling into this black hole; however, youth imprisonment presently seems to be the only option that is taken as effective, regardless its adversities. (HM Government, 2008, pp. 58-61) Policymakers believe that guiltless public stays protected by custody and imprisonment sentences to young offenders; however, it is a satisfying fact that punishment confronted by young offenders in prisons results in segregation from society that is adverse for children according to a number of child psychologists. (Delanty & Strydom, 2003, pp. 55-59) Studies (Muncie,

WQ7 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
WQ7 - Essay Example Coaching is usually focused on giving the leaders additional skills to improve their competence. For example, when new employees are engaged in a company, they usually possess some skills but have little experience in the organizational operations. Coaching them is viewed as a necessary tool that improves their knowledge regarding the organization. Leadership development in the organization follows Keslerââ¬â¢s suggestion that coaching helps leaders to apply the skills acquired in studies to real practice (Kesler, 2002). Leaders need training to augment their focus on building a strong relationship between them and the subordinates, which enhances understanding making them able to identify weaknesses that need to be suppressed through coaching. Through training, they develop a new approach towards accomplishing tasks (Alldredge et al. 2003). Training involves introducing and promoting new working strategies, offering explanations and making facts clear to the leaders thereby improving their communication with subordinates. They begin to pay attention to the subordinates to know the appropriate strategies that enhance success in the organization. They need to be engaged in continuous coaching to ensure that they acquire significant information that improves their competitiveness in decision making (Kesler, 2002). One of the methods for social network analysis (SNA) is basic modeling, which is used in the evaluation of the flow of information and understanding n the organization. The process and the activity views are to significant modeling views that are reconciled in the knowledge modeling and description language (KMDL), which creates a favorable environment for the workflow processes to be accomplished. The various parts of the process are effectively interconnected through the process boundaries (Freeman, 2004). The IT systems facilitate the interconnections of the entire knowledge management process. Their applications in knowledge sharing activities
